The culmination of Ryan on facebook

So, you have likely been a follower for over month at this point, likely even longer. I thank you for your loyalty in following what I have to post on Facebook. I want to share with you what I do beyond just posting fun links, thoughts and ideas regarding Minneapolis.

My favorite thing to do on facebook is create brand presence and connect facebook users with businesses. I strongly believe that with the trending of business that Facebook creates a forum to which a brand is alive and held accountable for its sourcing, endeavors and mishaps. I also think that the same should be to the advantage of the brand when taking aggressive, innovative and advantageous steps to generating buzz and sales for itself.

I have assisted in the start of many pages for businesses such as CRAVE and Darby O'Ragen's. Also I work with rising artists nationwide: Nial Hay (Minneapolis), Tyler Barham (Montana), Kate Logan (Nashville). Because I founded the Lake Calhoun Boys, I manage that page as well. The sister page to this one, "I Love Minneapolis" is also on the roster. In addition to these that I name publicly, I manage a few pages as a private contractor. It is a passion of mine to work behind the scenes, as social media is a powerful tool. I will post links to these pages at the end of this. By far my favorite of 2010 is getting artists involved with live web concerts on Livestream.com. If you are not familiar with Livestream, it is an amazing website that allows companies and those alike to have a web channel that can run 24/7 linear video, broadcast shows live, and have a video library like Youtube.

If you have a desire to learn more about social media be it within Facebook or another site, please let me know. And if your business needs help starting up a page or maintaining the page I would love to assist with that as well. I believe it is to the disadvantage of every business to not be on the social media network. Regardless of your participation as a business, your name and buzz is still there it is just up to you take credit and have a place for all the buzz to hover around.

Enjoy your facetime, I surely do!

Minneapolis Please Remember

Fatty, Fag, Dyke, Pig, Lezbo, Queen, Whore....

There are so many words that tormented us while growing up, and these words and some are all the more prevalent in our society today. Just as we used the word retarded youth now use the word gay out of context. At least when we were in school the torment often ended when the bell rang at the end of the day. Today, the bullying extends into the social media and other technology. It must end, it must get better, and it WILL get better.

Today is a National Day of Remembrance for those who have lost the fight to live on in life due to such torment and bullying. May their memories be blessed with the good in their life and who they wanted to be. It is day to think about out actions, past and present. To strive to make a difference as we grow forward as a human, as a community and as a country. Our community is in the headlines for this issue with 7 teen suicides in the Anoka area alone in the past year. This epidemic is as awful here as it is anywhere.

Until the day that schools are made to enforce policy against ALL bullying we must stand and voice our concern and interest in this area. No child should have to endure hate and bullying. To those of you who say it is part of life, I am here to tell you that it is not. If you were a bully, looking back what has it done for you?

I can tell you first hand that being the victim of bullying lives with you for life. I have a strong mindset that led me past it all, and I did everything possible to get out of high school. I went to a charter school to start fresh. I was bullied there. I wanted to die. I considered suicide but the more I researched the larger the concern grew about failing at it than anything. So, I went to a new school and stayed under the radar, not great grades as that got me harassment before, but well enough to get by. At the first chance for PSEO in my junior year I took it. I wanted away from the peer pressure and the hatred in my school. I was stuck between part time high school and college so the only way to survive the hatred in those four walls was to join it. I said some awful things to people no different than I. I apologize to the few of you who I said those things about.

Please practice and preach in your own lives to stop bullying and hate on those unlike yourself. All persons should have the right to express their love and personality in a respectable manner. Set religion aside, because NO ONE shall judge another being, there is one Judge in all religion. If your beliefs do not support what another person is doing, they have two powers to answer to, the law and God.

We are so close to human equality. Keep on going as we all know It Gets Better. Choose which side of history you want to be on, it is changing regardless, but it is in your power to change it Today.

New Agenda

Sorry its been a couple months of bitter silence, HOWEVER, back and running post-holidays and such. I was talking to some followers of the fan page and decided that I need to structure the blog and updates to reflect more of what will be helpful and fun for you all. I am not going to post a schedule, however I have a list of topics and things to search in order to give you some insight into what is going on around town, resources to use, discounts to be had, and so much more.

I need you to do the same, let me know when something is happening, post it on the wall, send an email to minneapolisadam@gmail.com etc. My goal is to make information easy for you and to better the city that I love by getting the word out regarding current events and happenings that may interest you.

Minneapolis a Love Affair

Minneapolis is a lovers' city, name something that you LOVE or love to do and odds are that you will find it here. That is why I love this city.

Let's cover some basic topics of love.
Loving to do...
~I love to see beautiful city skylines and go on scenic walks...so in Minneapolis I often visit Lake Calhoun and the Minnehaha Falls area. The most beautiful skyline of Mpls can be seen while driving into the city on 35W from either direction. To walk north to south on the Stone Arch Bridge makes my heart tingle, especially with a loved one's hand tangled in mine.
~I love to be downtown for nightlife and good eats...there are authentic eateries and dining out locations for all budgets that I have discovered around town. In uptown, Azia, Il Gato, Stella's are lovables meanwhile downtown Old Spaghetti Factory, Kieran's, The Local are just a few of the lovables. In the northeast we have the Red Stag and so much more! Every direction you go, you will find original and quality dining, so a passion for food will go a long way.
~I love art...with seasonal art shows and great museums Minneapolis is one of the best places in the Nation to find and satisfy a love for art and theater. The MIA on the southside of town is gauranteed to quench your thirst for art meanwhile Hennepin Ave will dazzle your eyes with weekly shows.

Loving to feel...
~Connected to the community...and in Minneapolis I feel as though there is a community and those within the community truly strive to make their city a safe and better home. There are many community groups that help make this work, such as NOMI in North Minneapolis, the Lake Calhoun boys of Uptown, and the many business associations in each district.
~That the City itself is passionate about making their city a 5 star home and place to see. I like to see tourists and folks interested in the history and current offerings of my home, in addition I recognize that with tourism comes money and hopefully that will keep some tax money from coming out of my pocket right?
~As though I am in a small town yet it's still a big city. I believe Minneapolis provides that small town feel meanwhile bringing the big town fun.

We live in such a wonderful city and part of the world; Best Buy and Target are based here and they are two of the world powers in the commercial market, therefore stabilizing tons of jobs meanwhile bringing dollars from abroad back home to the community to which the business is in to give back. Everywhere I go and the charities to which I belong, I see Target supporting them financially and more.

What do you love about this city? I will expand more soon, until then...enjoy!

In The Beginning...

...I believed that blogging was a diary and an annoying tool that people used to express their thoughts and feelings. After years of social media networking and persuasion, I find myself here, blogging to you today.

I grew up in the suburbs, never really liking Minneapolis or understanding why I hated it other than Saint Paul is what I knew and what I loved. Part of the dislike for Mpls could have been my attendance at Fort Snelling Academy where I learned to love Saint Paul, also I was an introvert and Minneapolis is the fun and exciting city.

Since those days, I have been across the country, lived in another state, yet I find myself back in Minnesota. I was flabbergasted when I found Lake Calhoun in the heart of Uptown and navigating 394 was alien to me as well. Now as a resident of Mpls for a couple years, I feel like I can share the love and compassion that I have received and grown to know while being here. I want to start the love campaign for Minneapolis and share it with the world.

Who am I? I am Ryan, a 24 year old that is passionate about work, life, and all those in my life. I strive to make a positive difference in my daily life and my community, so this is one way I feel that I can make a difference in my community. You may not always like what I have to say or what I think, but bare with me, as I am not trying to through distaste, but a new view, a new way, a new spout of love, inspiration and communication.

Welcome to my ride as I share through this blog, twitter and facebook; I look forward to hosting you through the remainder of our journey. Share anything you like, send me places, food, entertainment, and anything else that you would like me to explore. I will do the same, I promise.
